Volunteer Trainers/Interns: The target population of 701 United is predominately inner city youth residing in the Lowell neighborhood. Volunteer trainers/interns with 701 United will have the opportunity to gain experience in, but not limited to: 

  • Community development

  • Facility operations

  • Individualized exercise programming

  • Incentive program development

  • Group exercise class instruction

  • Health promotion programs

  • Professional development and networking

  • Comprehensive fitness assessments

Time Commitment

We are flexible with different schedules. Volunteer trainers/interns can participate on a monthly, bi-weekly, weekly, daily,

or event-specific basis. 




The trainers/interns will have the opportunity to work within different aspects of 701 United, serving youth and the community. They will be responsible for assisting the directors in program development, facility management, and administrative tasks. Trainers/inters will have the opportunity to teach classes, run/develop fitness programs, and help individuals reach their fitness goals.




  • Good communication and interpersonal skills

  • Community developing experience 

  • Community engagement experience 

  • Experience/interest in working with diverse population

  • Group fitness or personal training certification (preferred, but not required)

  • Ministry background (preferred, but not required)

  • Course or background in exercise physiology and anatomy (preferred, but not required)

    •  Ideal for individuals pursuing a degree in marketing, business management, health & wellness, fitness, or related field
